LOUISE SMITH

MORLEY, Mo. -- Louise A. Smith, 81, of Ocean Springs, Miss., died Monday, March 5, 2001, in Ocean Springs Hospital.

She was born March 4, 1920, at Morley, daughter of Clarence and Nellie Florence Bryant Abernathy. She and McGoy Smith were married Jan. 16, 1937. He died Dec. 5, 1983.

Smith had been a machine operator at International Hat Factory in Oran, Mo. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ocean Springs, and former member of First Baptist Church in Oran.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Smith of Sikeston, Mo., Lanny Smith of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Carolyn Matthews of Ocean Springs; a brother, Harold Abernathy of Burkesville, Ky.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran after 6:30 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Ed Carter officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Garden near Morley.
