Louise Bess Proffer, 88, of Denver, and a former longtime resident of Cape Girardeau, passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2012.
She was born in Bloomfield, Mo., and married Dale W. Proffer of Aid, Mo., in 1941.
Dale, Louise and their son Lanny moved to Cape Girardeau in 1952 when Dale was appointed Missouri conservation agent for Cape Girardeau County, a position he held until his retirement in 1979. Louise and Dale were active members of the Cape Girardeau community until 1992 when they moved to Panama City Beach, Fla.
Although Dale died in 2003, Louise continued to live in Panama City until 2010, when she moved to Denver to be close to her son, Lanny. Even while living in Florida and in Colorado, Louise kept in regular contact with friends in Cape Girardeau and Southeast Missouri.
A son, Lanny of Denver, and a sister, Vern Tucker of Catawba, Va., survive.
The Monarch Society of Denver was in charge of arrangements.
No service is planned, but in light of Louise's love of dogs, she would be honored by contributions in her name to Cape Girardeau animal shelters.
