Louise Marie Nussbaum, 96, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, at the Lutheran Home, where she had been a resident for one week. She was born Sept. 28, 1920, in Dutchtown to the late H.W.A. and Lily Muster Wessel. She was the youngest of 10 children. She was married to Herbert Nussbaum on Aug. 11, 1944. He passed away Feb. 17, 2003...

Louise Marie Nussbaum, 96, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, at the Lutheran Home, where she had been a resident for one week.

She was born Sept. 28, 1920, in Dutchtown to the late H.W.A. and Lily Muster Wessel. She was the youngest of 10 children. She was married to Herbert Nussbaum on Aug. 11, 1944. He passed away Feb. 17, 2003.

Louise was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was active, serving many church and school organizations. She was a member of the Senior Ladies Aid, a Cub Scout den mother and a Sunday-school teacher for many years. She also was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary.

She was a stay-at-home mom, raising her three sons until they graduated from high school. She then went to work for Sears in the warehouse in Cape Girardeau.

She enjoyed playing cards, quilting, bowling and fishing. She especially enjoyed being with all of her grandchildren and taking them fishing and playing games with them. She enjoyed her rose gardens, and they were always beautiful in the spring and summer.

Her surviving family consists of two sons, Gene (Linda Jo) Nussbaum of Unionville, Missouri, and Joe Nussbaum of Dutchtown; and six grandchildren, Diana (Chris) Davolt of Centerville, Iowa, Greg Nussbaum of Unionville, Don (Tracey) Nussbaum of Oran, Missouri, Laura (Brad) Stotler of Sedgewickville, Missouri, Kirk (Honor) Nussbaum and Keith (Margaret) Nussbaum of Belleville, Illinois. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; all of her siblings; a son, Larry Nussbaum; and her husband.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Daniel Maske officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be given to Saxony Lutheran High School.
