SIKESTON -- Louise Chaney, 73, of Canalou died Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997, at the home of her son in Canalou.
She was born Nov. 2, 1923, near Matthews to Louis and Rosa Bohannon Kem.
A lifelong resident of the Matthews-Canalou area, she had been employed for 29 years as an administrative secretary for the New Madrid County School District and was a member of the First Baptist Church at Matthews.
On June 26, 1943, she married Jewel Chaney at New Madrid.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; one son, John Chaney of Canalou; one daughter, Mary Beth Bradley of Matthews; three brothers, Edsel Kem of Mesa, Ariz., Joe Kem of Franklin, Ky., and Rudolph Kem of Greenville, S.C.; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Service will be at 7 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Adams officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
