ORAN, Mo. -- Louis M. Pobst, 87, of Oran died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at his home. He was born Feb. 26, 1913, at Caney, Mo., son of Andrew and Theresie Menz Pobst. He and Christena M. Hahn were married April 22, 1941. Pobst was a retired self-employed farmer. He was a member of the Guardian Angel Catholic Church at Oran and a member of St. Joseph Sodality and Knights of Columbus Council 4311 of Oran...

ORAN, Mo. -- Louis M. Pobst, 87, of Oran died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at his home.

He was born Feb. 26, 1913, at Caney, Mo., son of Andrew and Theresie Menz Pobst. He and Christena M. Hahn were married April 22, 1941.

Pobst was a retired self-employed farmer. He was a member of the Guardian Angel Catholic Church at Oran and a member of St. Joseph Sodality and Knights of Columbus Council 4311 of Oran.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Vernon and Andrew Pobst, both of Oran; five daughters, Barbara Freed of Advance, Mo., Sharon Phillips of Downey, Calif., Brenda Swain of Chaffee, Mo., Glenda Owen of Oran and Mary Wright of St. Charles, Mo.; 21 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and nine sisters.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel at Oran. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. followed by the Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, with the Rev. Lewis Hejna officiating. Burial will follow at Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery at Oran.
