Louis Geldmacher

Louis Christ Geldmacher, 100, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019, at Lutheran Home.

He was born Feb. 22, 1919, in Cape Girardeau to Christian and Louise Walter Geldmacher. He and Victoria O'Brien Carmichael were married Nov. 25, 1954, at St. Louis. She preceded him in death Jan. 19, 2002.

He worked at both old and new Saint Francis hospitals for many years. He was employee of the year in 1983. He also worked at Union Pacific Hospital in St. Louis many years ago.

He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ in Cape Girardeau, where he and his wife served as custodians.

Survivors include many cousins, including Martin (Betty) Roth and Christopher (Audrey) Roth, both of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a sister.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Dan Johnson officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to Evangelical United Church of Christ or Saint Francis Hospice.
