EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral service for Louis Achter Jr. of East Prairie will be held at 11 a.m. today at Shelby Funeral Chapel in East Prairie. The Rev. Buddy Hannah will officiate, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Achter, 63, died Monday, Jan. 22, 1996, at his home, following an extended illness.
He was born March 26, 1932, at Gideon, son of Louis William and Laura May Hughes Achter Sr. He and Lucy Carter were married July 11, 1958.
Achter was a retired farmer and timber worker.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Louis Achter of Louisiana, Allen, Jimmy and Michael Achter of East Prairie; a daughter, Lisa Bowers of East Prairie; two brothers, Jack Achter of Sikeston, Leslie Achter of East Prairie; two sisters, Pauline Henton and Dorthy Telker of Charleston, and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson and two brothers.
