Louie E. King, 87, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Chateau Girardeau.
He was born April 20, 1931, in Leeman to the late Floyd E. and Zona Hodge King.
Louie and Dorothy Kielhafner were married Nov. 24, 1955 at Kelso, Missouri. She preceded him in death Jan. 10, 2011.
Louie served in the U.S. Army from 1947 to 1953 stationed in Germany and Fort Knox, Kentucky. He worked for Marquette Cement Co. for many years, was a truck driver, farmed land near Delta and later in his career owned his own trucking company. Louie was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau, the Cape Girardeau Eagles Aries 3775 and VFW 3838, where he was a member of the honor guard team. He also enjoyed being a volunteer alongside his wife at Saint Francis Medical Center.
Loving survivors include his son, Richard L. (Patty) King of San Antonio; brothers, Charles J. and Dayton L. King, both of Delta; sisters, Donna Yarbro of Cape Girardeau and Kathrine Anthony of Oran, Missouri; grandchildren, Michael (Chihiro) King and Meghan (Luke) Renfro; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Julia Renfro.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four brothers, Danny, Buford, JD and Duree King; and two sisters, Nadine Crowden and Imogene Hitchcock.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish Prayers will be at 6 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Bobby Manso officiating. Entombment will follow with full military rites at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Saint Francis Medical Center Auxiliary.
