Louella Lewis, 78, 1222 S. Pacific, died Monday, Jan. 13, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was born Oct. 18, 1918, in Clarksdale, Miss., daughter of Steve and Louetta Underwood Booker. She and Nig Lewis were married in Clarksdale. He died in 1971.
Lewis retired as a nurse aide at Maple Crest Manor Nursing Home. She was head missionary at Church of Jesus Christ.
Survivors include three sons, Walter Holman and James Lewis of St. Louis, Nathan Lewis of Crystal City; three daughters, Etta Ayers, Marian Walker and Joyce Carter, all of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Joe Booker of Jefferson City, Fred Booker of St. Louis; five sisters, Barbara Booker and Rose Butler of Chicago, Ramelle Staten of Detroit, Mich., Revella Pugh of Boston, Mass., Fannie King of Cape Girardeau; 25 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Church of God in Christ, with the Rev. William Bird and Pastor Faye Bumpas officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
