PERRYVILLE, Mo. — Mildred "Lou" Taylor, 96, of Perryville passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Independence Care Center.
She was born March 4, 1927, in Risco, Missouri, to James Thurston and Jewel Hamlett Terry. Lou and James D. "Jim" Taylor were married May 9, 1947, in Alton, Missouri.
She was a secretary for Perry County public schools and was a homemaker.
She was a member of United Methodist Church in Perryville.
Lou enjoyed sporting events of all kinds, especially when her grandchildren were playing. She also was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Most of all, she enjoyed time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Randy (Patti) Taylor of Perryville and Jim (Patty) Taylor of Columbia, Missouri; two daughters, Terry (Michael) Wengert and Stephanie Taylor, both of Perryville; brother, Jerry Wayne (Pat) Terry of Republic, Missouri; sister, Wilma Ruth Key of Republic; nine grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Lou was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Opal Woolston.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, at United Methodist Church in Perryville and will continue from 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, at the church.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, at the church, with the Rev. Kevin Barron officiating.
Burial will be at Home Cemetery in Perryville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to United Methodist Church in Perryville.
Ford and Young Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
