Lottie Summers
BERNIE -- Lottie Machen Summers, 97, of Bernie died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998, at Malden Nursing Center.
She was born May 27, 1901, at Malden, daughter of Hugh and Ida Nichols Machen. She and David B. Summers were married on June 12, 1922, at Bernie. He died Nov. 9, 1958.
She owned and operated a dry cleaning establishment in Bernie. She was a member of the Bernie United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Summers of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Jerry Summers of Enid, Okla.; a daughter, Dorothy Swafford of Bernie; a brother, James Lewis Machen Sr. of Bernie; two sisters, Mary Sadler of Mountain Home, Ark., and Gertrude Dowdy of Bernie; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, a daughter, two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at the Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. John Adams will officiate, with burial in the Bernie Cemetery.
