SIKESTON, Mo. -- Lottie Mae Nabors, 78, of Sikeston died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, at Missouri Delta Medical Center. She was born Dec. 31, 1921, at Ware, Miss., daughter of Walter and Ethel McCoo. She and the Rev. J.L. Nabors were married in 1940. He died in 1996...

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Lottie Mae Nabors, 78, of Sikeston died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 31, 1921, at Ware, Miss., daughter of Walter and Ethel McCoo. She and the Rev. J.L. Nabors were married in 1940. He died in 1996.

She was a longtime member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church and served as secretary of the Missionary Society. She also was secretary of the choir and later the Mother's Board. Her husband had served as pastor of the church. When the congregation was founded by the Nabors, it was known as King's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston.

The city of Sikeston issued a proclamation declaring Dec. 31, 1994, as Lottie Mae Nabors Day in recognition of her work for family and Christian values. She was also recognized in 1995 by the Daughters of Sunset for her outstanding community service.

Survivors include nine sons, James Nabors Jr., Lee Earl Nabors, the Rev. Joe Nabors and Lynn Nabors, all of Sikeston, the Revs. Roy and Benjamin Nabors, David and Tommy Nabors, all of Milwaukee, Wis., and Calvin Nabors of Raleigh, N.C.; seven daughters, Florida Nabors and Joyce McKinney, both of Sikeston, Vera Rollins of Cape Girardeau, Leatha Foster of Alton, Ill., Clarinda Palmer of Baton Rouge, La., Tina and Linda Nabors, both of Milwaukee; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter and a brother.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Cornerstone Church in Sikeston.

Service will be at noon Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.

Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
