PATTON, Mo. -- Lorene Mayfield, 76, of Patton passed away Monday, May 15, 2017, at her son's home in Jackson.
She was born Aug. 19, 1940, in New Wells, daughter of Theo and Olga Koch Haertling. She and Orville R. Perr were married Sept. 17, 1960, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells. He passed away May 1, 1978. Lorene later married Jerry L. Mayfield on Oct. 18, 1992, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. Jerry passed away Nov. 24, 2016.
Lorene was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School. Lorene was a longtime, faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
She had worked in the fitting department of the former International Shoe factory and in the packaging department of Lee-Rowan, retiring in 2001. She enjoyed cooking, baking and working with her husband on the farm. She had a gift of helping others.
Loving survivors include her daughter, Karen Cunningham of Jackson; sons, Orville Perr Jr. of Jackson, Scott (Dana) Mayfield and Jamie (Nancy) Mayfield, both of Patton, and Jason (Kassi) Mayfield of Millersville; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alida Evans of Frohna, Missouri, and Lorna (Kenneth) Steffens of Altenburg, Missouri; a brother, Ruben Haertling of New Wells; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Orville Perr and Jerry Mayfield; son, Jeffery Mayfield; grandson, Jesse Brown; and four brothers, Elton "Fletch," Harlen, Clinton and Wayne Haertling.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Joshua Schmidt officiating. Committal service and interment will follow in Pulliam Cemetery near Scopus, Missouri, with the Rev. Donald Slatton officiating.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Radio Broadcast, St. Paul Lutheran Altar Guild or Pulliam Cemetery Association.
