Lorena Gibbs, daughter of Norman and Melinda Canada Hutchison, was born January 6, 1916 in Gale, Illinois and passed away Sunday, January 18, 1998 at the Union County Hospital in Anna at the age of 81. Mrs. Gibbs was united in marriage to Elijah A. Gibbs in Jonesboro on December 14, 1935 and to this union eight children were born. ...

Lorena Gibbs, daughter of Norman and Melinda Canada Hutchison, was born January 6, 1916 in Gale, Illinois and passed away Sunday, January 18, 1998 at the Union County Hospital in Anna at the age of 81.

Mrs. Gibbs was united in marriage to Elijah A. Gibbs in Jonesboro on December 14, 1935 and to this union eight children were born. Mr. Gibbs preceded her in death on December 16, 1997. She was also preceded in death by six brothers, six sisters, two grandsons, Michael Johnson and Daryl Yates; and one daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Gibbs.

Mrs. Gibbs was a loving mother and a member of Reynoldsville Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Norman and Catherine Gibbs of Cobden; David and Melinda Gibbs of Blufton, South Carolina; six daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and David Johnson of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Delores and John Yates Jr. of Herrin, Sue and Steve Eudy of Jonesboro, Lois and Jim Crites of Jackson, Missouri, Linda and Gary Koch of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Venita and Robert Lingle of Anna; eighteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Emma Baggott of Cobden; three brothers-in-law and spouses, Jesse and Evelyn Gibbs of Chester, Walter and Linda Gibbs of Alto Pass, Wilburn and Betty Gibbs of Jonesboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 21, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hileman & Parr Funeral Services with Rev. Argyl Landis and Rev. S.S. Borum officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 1998 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lutheran Home or the Reynoldsville Baptist Church.
