PERRYVILLE -- Loren C. Wharton, 73, of Friedheim, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 8, 1926, in Alton, Ill., son of Darrell and Ada Clifton Wharton. He married Lucille Bruene on May 28, 1966, in Friedheim. She survives.
He had worked as a painter at Ford Motor Co. in Hazelwood. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran UAW Local 3325 and American Legion Post 133. He had served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a son, Russell Wharton of St. Louis; three daughters, Diana Gibson of Jackson, and Pam Palmer and Karen Wharton, both of Friedheim; a brother, Ted Wharton of St. Louis; three sisters, Doris Welker of Patton, Lois Verseman of Crosstown and Sharon Hoehn of St. Louis; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Visitation will be held Tuesday between 4 and 8 p.m. at Young & Sons Chapel in Perryville and Wednesday between 9 and 10 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Adam Mueller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
