Funeral for Loren Adair Shanks of Cape Girardeau will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. James Sanderson and Dr. Clayton Smith will officiate, with burial in Valhalla Cemetery in St. Louis.
Friends may call at the chapel from 4-6 p.m. Sunday.
Shanks, 77, died Thursday, July 9, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Sept. 30, 1920, at Dixon, son of William and Esta Logue Shanks. He and Clara Mae Dickey Jacobsin were married Sept. 7, 1985, in Cape Girardeau.
Shanks retired from Union Electric, moving to Cape Girardeau in 1985 from New Haven. He was a volunteer at Missouri Veterans Home.
He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Overland Masonic Lodge, Elks Lodge in Washington, Mo., and VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Katheryn Phelan of O'Fallon, Peggy Grasser of St. Peters; two sisters, Henrietta Soppelsa of Versailles, Mae Caviness of Gravois Mills; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
