MARBLE HILL -- Loren E. Welker, 74, of Marble Hill died Sunday, Sept. 1, 1996, at his home. He was born July 28, 1922, in Greenbriar, the son of Naman and Flora Brown Welker. MARBLE HILL -- Loren E. Welker, 74, of Marble Hill died Sunday, Sept. 1, 1996, at his home.

He was born July 28, 1922, in Greenbriar, the son of Naman and Flora Brown Welker. On Nov. 5, 1947, he married Patsy J. Leslie.

Welker was a farmer, a World War II veteran and had served for 15 years on the Bollinger County Selective Service Board. He attended Hahn Chapel General Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, David Welker of Burfordville and Dennis Welker of Marble Hill; one daughter, Melba Bailey of Yankton, S.C.; three brothers, Clyde Welker of Fenton, Clytus Welker of Valley Park and Larry Welker of Marble Hill; one sister, Maxine Bridges of Jackson; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. today at Hahn General Baptist Church near Marble Hill.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today at the church with the Rev. Gerald Huff officiating. Burial will follow in the Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
