Lora Annabelle Smith, 87, of Cape Girardeau passed away at 1:02 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2018 at her home, surrounded by family.
She was born Feb. 22, 1931, in Chesterfield, Missouri, to the late Grover Cleveland and Ida Annabelle Davis Mobley. Lora and Josephus L. Smith were married June 13, 1946, in Jackson. He preceded her in death Feb. 15, 1994.
She worked for Florsheim Shoe Factory over 30 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of Northside Gospel Assembly for over 50 years where she played the piano for many years. She loved music and enjoyed cooking large family meals every weekend. She loved doing for her family and friends, and she never met a stranger.
Loving survivors include sons, Joel (Rhonda Brown) Smith and David (Vicki) Smith, all of Cape Girardeau; daughters, Sharon Moore (deceased son-in-law Jimmy Moore) of Paducah, Kentucky, Mary Jane (Ronald) Huckabee of Cape Girardeau, Marshia (Jerry) Mouser of Paducah and Nancy (Jeff) Dalton of Scott City; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren, and one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; six brothers; and eight sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Northside Gospel Assembly, with the Revs. Winfred Wren, Encil Edmonds and Bobby Mouser officiating and grandson Michael Mouser speaking. Burial will follow at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
