Loomis H. "Jock" Brown, 94, of Jackson passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 14, 1926, in Millersville, son of Burette Oliver and Addie Mae Robins Brown. He and Olline Alfreda Abernathy were married August 24, 1953 in Crump. She survives.

Jock enlisted in the United States Navy on Sept. 18, 1943 and was honorably discharged on April 18, 1947. He was proud to serve his country. Jock worked as a mechanic for MoDOT from 1959 to 2000 when he deservingly retired after 41 years of service. He previously worked at Jackson Implement as a small engine mechanic. He was known for his reliable mechanical skills thoughout the area. Jock was a member of Whitewater Masonic Lodge No. 714 and Altenthal-Joerns Post 158 in Jackson.

Loving survivors include his wife of 67 years; two sons, Steve (Nancy) Brown of Kerrville, Texas, Gordon (Nancy G.) Brown of Franklin, Tennessee; a daughter, Cheryl (Todd) Wasilewski of Jackson; six grandchildren, Collin (Georgia) Brown, Evan Brown, Nick Wasilewski, Bethany Brown, Callie (Benjamen) Gonzalez, and Nadia Wasilewski; four great-grandchildren, Lilyanna, Sophie, Caleb Gonzalez, and Shilo Valadez; and a sister, Iva Houchins of Cornville, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joe Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with military honors.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Bethlehem General Baptist Church in Whitewater.
