MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Lonnie Carl Brown, 59, of Marble Hill passed away Sept. 6, 2010, at Woodland Hills Nursing Home following an extended illness with multiple sclerosis.
He was born May 29, 1951, in Cape Girardeau, the son of Winford C. and V. Imogene Devenport Brown. A 1969 graduate of Woodland High School, he attended Southeast Missouri State College. Prior to his disability retirement, he worked for the city of Oran, Mo., as a police officer. He was a member of Hahn Chapel General Baptist Church.
On Dec. 21, 1974, he married Sherry Lynn Stevens in Jackson. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Jason (Bridget) Brown of Scott City; a daughter, Amanda (Jeff) Brown of Jackson; grandchildren, Token, Matilda, Josh and Lindsey; his parents; two brothers, John Brown of Sedgewickville, Mo., and Kenny Brown of Marble Hill; and a sister, Carole Elfrink of Whitewater.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Rev. Ronnie Devenport officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery near Scopus, Mo.
