JEFFERSON CITY -- Lola Marie Freeman, 86, of Jefferson City, formerly of Cape Girardeau, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 5, 2018, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital.
She was born June 15, 1931, in St. Louis, daughter of the late Robert W. and Ethelene Hodge Carrow. Nov. 8, 1959, Lola was united in marriage in Morley, Missouri, to Odis W. Freeman, who preceded her in death in August 2001.
Lola and her husband owned and operated Freeman's Mobil Service Center from 1969 to 1987. She was also passionate about her work with Walmart and the Children's Miracle Network.
Lola was a member of Capital City Christian Church, where she was active in the Women's Ministry. She was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and the Republican Women's Club.
Lola was known by many as "Grandma Lola" and also the "Card Lady," because she sent cards to everyone for all occasions and holidays. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. Lola was a very selfless and God-loving woman, who loved taking care of others.
Lola is survived by her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons and a brother, Robert Carrow.
Friends will be received from 9 to 10 a.m. today at Capital City Christian Church, where the funeral service will follow at 10 a.m., with the Revs. Don Fankhauser and Troy Easley officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at 3:15 p.m. today at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, where she will be reunited with her husband, Odis.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Children's Miracle Network or Capital City Christian Church, 1512 Swifts Highway, Jefferson City, MO 65109.
Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Directors in Jefferson City.
