SIKESTON -- Funeral for Loisel E. Byrd of Sikeston will be held at 11 a.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home. The Rev. Lee Fansler will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Byrd, 74, died Monday, Sept. 21, 1998, at Clearview Nursing Center.

She was born Aug. 24, 1924, at Benton, daughter of John H. and Docia Mae King Young. She and Richard Dowen Byrd Sr. were married Nov. 6, 1943, at Sikeston. He died Aug. 31, 1998.

Byrd was a social worker with Missouri Division of Family Services 29 years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of Miner Baptist Church and VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include a son, Richard Byrd Jr. of Tallahassee, Fla.; three daughters, Sandy Sitzes and Dixie Satterfield of Sikeston, Elizabeth Wunderlich of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Mayme Galemore of Sikeston, Rosie Phegley of Chaffee; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
