ADVANCE, Mo. -- Lois F. Revelle Vavak, 73, of Advance passed away Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born July 8, 1941, in Advance, daughter of Charles and Lena Croy Revelle. Lois taught English, drama and speech at Advance High School 31 years. She was one of the most beloved teachers Advance High School ever had. She touched many lives. She was a cancer survivor and was an advocate for the American Cancer Society...

ADVANCE, Mo. -- Lois F. Revelle Vavak, 73, of Advance passed away Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 8, 1941, in Advance, daughter of Charles and Lena Croy Revelle.

Lois taught English, drama and speech at Advance High School 31 years. She was one of the most beloved teachers Advance High School ever had. She touched many lives. She was a cancer survivor and was an advocate for the American Cancer Society.

Survivors include two sons, Stephen and Darrell Vavak of Advance; a sister, Louise Long of Advance; a niece, Linda Slinkard of Advance; two nephews, Keith Whitehead of Charleston, Missouri, and Dennis Long of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Stephen Vavak Sauer, Holly Grindstaff and Robbie Murdock; and five great-grandchildren, Courtney Grindstaff, Alexis Grindstaff, Kyle Harris, Chloe Harris and James Harris.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Berniece Whitehead; and an infant brother.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel.

The funeral be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Gavin Page officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park.
