Soldiers walked by the concrete fence that surrounds Compound 19, a closed military facility in Yekaterinburg, Wednesday.JACKSON, Mo. -- Lois Evelyn LaBruyere, 71, of Jackson, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at Memorial Herman Southwest Hospital in Houston, Texas.

She was born at Patton, Mo., Aug. 10, 1930, daughter of Roy and Edna Mae Hahn Barks.

She married Billy Lewis LaBruyere Nov. 6, 1981. He survives.

She worked in housekeeping at Southeast Missouri Hospital. She also drove a bus for the Jackson School System and for VIP Industry. She was a member of the Shawnee Hills Baptist Church in Jackson. She was a member of the St. Marks Chapter of Eastern Star No. 167, Scottish Rite Women's Club, Cheerful County Doers Home Makers Club of Old Appleton and Women's Missionary Union and the ladies Sunday school class.

Survivors include sons, Ronnie Townsend and Lonnie Townsend, Denver, Colo., and Glenn Thompson, Old Appleton, Mo.; stepson, Gary LaBruyere, of Idaho; daughters Jeanne Hardy, Missouri City, Texas and Donna Elder, Jackson; a step-daughter, Terri LaBruyere, St. Louis; brothers, Ray Lee Barks, Fair Oaks, Calif. and Larry Wayne Barks, Mechanicsville, Md.; sisters, Emma Mae Cannon, Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers.

Service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Cracraft-Miller Chapel, with the Rev. Robert Cheney officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Friends may call Monday, from 4 to 8 p.m. An Eastern Star Service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday.
