FIELDON, Ill. — Lloyd O. Farrow, 87, of Fieldon passed away suddenly Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, at Christian NE Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Lloyd was born Sept. 29, 1936, in Oriole, the son of Oliver and Lena McClard Farrow.

He was a fourth-generation logger and owner and operator of Lewis and Clark Sawmill in West Alton for many years. He was proudly dedicated to his trade.

Lloyd had a personality that was larger than life, and he was loved by many. His greatest joy was his family, whom he loved dearly. He loved the Lord and made it his mission to share the gospel, especially with those struggling with addiction. He was a friend and mentor to many at First Fruits in Jerseyville, Illinois.

He loved hunting and fishing, especially in the company of his son and grandsons. Lloyd was a quick wit and always had a song or a story to tell, which was usually followed by his contagious laugh that lit up a room. He was loving and kind and always willing to help someone in need.

Lloyd is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jerry Allen Farrow; two daughters, Patricia (Gregory) Hughes and Sandy (Greg) Linhoss; son, Lloyd Farrow Jr.; grandchildren, Jay Niemeyer, Sarah (Justin) Batman, Ashley (Chip) Strutman, Michael (Steven) Farrow, Jordan (Ashley) Linhoss and Evan Linhoss; and nine great-grandchildren.
