Lloyd M. Engelmann, 97, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, at Lutheran Home.

He was born Sept. 4, 1922, in Daisy to Alvin A. and M. Alma Linebarger Engelmann.

He and Dorothy C. Phillips were married June 6, 1943, at Oak Ridge Baptist Church. She preceded him in death Aug. 12, 2018.

Lloyd was inducted into the Army Air Corps in 1942 and was stationed at Childress Army Air Field in Childress, Texas, until 1945.

Lloyd pastored at County Line Baptist Church in Marble Hill, Missouri; Meadow Heights Baptist in Fredericktown, Missouri; Glen Allen Baptist; Trinity Baptist in St. Mary, Missouri; Fair Grove (Missouri) Baptist, and Lesterville (Missouri) Baptist, where his wife of 75 years often played piano and organ and led the singing. He was a bi-vocational pastor at many of his churches as a mechanic and carpenter. He helped build and was a caretaker at Peaceful Valley Baptist Camp in St. Mary. Mission work was also a big part of his activities.

He was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include daughter, Suzette A. Taylor of Cape Girardeau; grandchildren, Sarah A. (Peter) Diltz and Mark (Opal) Taylor; and great-grandsons, Gavin Diltz, Elijah Diltz and Asher Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Cleman Engelmann.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral will follow at noon Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Bill Rhodes and Bill Joyce officiating. Burial will be at Lessley Cemetery in Marble Hill.

Memorial contributions may be given to Southside Baptist Church.
