CHARLESTON -- Funeral service for Liza Mae Cates of Charleston will be held at 10 a.m. today at McMikle Funeral Chapel. Marion Ferrell will officiate, with burial in Johnston Chapel Cemetery near Doniphan.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m.
Cates, 87, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1993, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 13, 1905, in Success, Ark., daughter of Dr. George and Susan Spencer Belcher. She and John Henry Cates were married Jan. 25, 1920. He died July 21, 1970.
Cates had worked at Charleston Laundry a number of years, and was a member of Charleston United Church of Christ.
Survivors include four sons, Ervin, James and Jearl Cates of Charleston, Charlie Cates of Tarkio; a daughter, Ethel Kuykendall of Charleston; a sister, Nola Hill of Bertrand; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
