Elizabeth "Liz" Smith, 82, of Jackson passed away Friday, June 8, 2018, at her home.

She was born June 18, 1935, in Advance, Missouri, daughter of William "Will" and Parlie Rhodes Dale. She and Joel "Jerry" Smith were married March 20, 1955, in Hernando, Mississippi. He passed away Oct. 14, 2012.

Liz graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1953. She worked for Litz Brothers Poultry and LeeRowen in Jackson before retiring in 1998, after 27 years at LeeRowen. She then worked part-time in the deli department at Country Mart in Jackson.

Liz was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Jackson.

Loving survivors include four sons, Terry Smith of Jackson, Larry Smith of Yuma, Arizona, Earl Smith of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Kenneth (Cindy) Smith of Rush, Illinois; four grandchildren, Ike, Brook, Brandon and Blake Smith; six great-grandchildren, Kailynn, Kade, Railey, Chloe, Mattie and Ellie; and a brother, Gene (Judy) Dale of Oak Ridge.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bobby Gene Ellis officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

The family suggests contributions be made to the American Legion Club Room in Jackson.
