Linda Faye Wood-Lummus, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
She was born May 3, 1940, in Centerville, Texas, to Virgil Wood and Marie Stafford Durst. She and James Robert Lummus were married Oct. 6, 1962, at Centerville.
Linda was a graduate of Centerville High School in Texas and Sam Houston State University.
She was a customer service representative at Colonial Federal Savings & Loan and a teacher in the Cape Girardeau public school district.
She was an avid tennis player. She loved her grandchildren and attending their sports activities.
She was a longtime member of Cape Bible Chapel.
Survivors include her husband, James Robert Lummus of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Lee (Tonya) Lummus of Jackson and Lane (Danielle) Lummus of Hayes, Kansas; and seven grandchildren, Brennen Lee (Macey) Lummus, Savannah Brooke Lummus, Jeremy James Lummus, Brock Lummus, Maia Lummus, Lex Lummus and Sienna Lummus.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother; father; stepfather, Joe Bailey Durst; and a brother, Jimmy Lyndon Wood.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will follow at noon Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ed Rothenberger officiating. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
