Linda Madge McGuire, daughter of the late Wilber and Madge Slinkard Jones, was born May 2, 1944, in Cape Girardeau and departed her life Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 78. Survivors include a son, Jay (Theresa) McGuire; daughter-in-law, Kathleen McGuire; eight grandchildren, Nathan (Melissa) McGuire, Jerrett McGuire, Brent (Brittany) McGuire, Seth McGuire, Erin (Alex) McGuire, Gavin McGuire, Patrick (Claire) McGuire and Kerry McGuire; six great-grandchildren, Nolan, Lucas, Ansley, Copper, Reagan and her "little monkey" Tessa McGuire; as well as many cousins and friends. ...

Linda Madge McGuire, daughter of the late Wilber and Madge Slinkard Jones, was born May 2, 1944, in Cape Girardeau and departed her life Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 78.

Survivors include a son, Jay (Theresa) McGuire; daughter-in-law, Kathleen McGuire; eight grandchildren, Nathan (Melissa) McGuire, Jerrett McGuire, Brent (Brittany) McGuire, Seth McGuire, Erin (Alex) McGuire, Gavin McGuire, Patrick (Claire) McGuire and Kerry McGuire; six great-grandchildren, Nolan, Lucas, Ansley, Copper, Reagan and her "little monkey" Tessa McGuire; as well as many cousins and friends. She also had three dogs she loved dearly, Abby, Missy Lynn and Dolly.

Besides her parents, Linda was preceded in death by a son, Kevin McGuire, and an infant daughter, Linda Elaine McGuire.

The family is especially appreciative to all the staff members at both Country Place in Kelso, Missouri, and Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau for their love and support of Linda in her final months and days, and also to Dr. James Palen and his staff, who cared for her for many years.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, Missouri.

Memorial service will then be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gwen Streeter as officiant.
