WARRENTON, Mo. — Linda "Lin" Jean Gieson, 74, of Warrenton passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 1, 2023, into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Upon her final days, she expressed how excited she was to finally be in His embrace.
Linda was born Oct. 21, 1948, in Cape Girardeau to the late William and Edna Frizzell Balsmann. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, William J. Gieson Sr., and her brother, Daniel "Dan" Balsmann.
Linda was known for living her life to the fullest. She loved traveling, gardening, cooking, writing, entertaining and, most of all, she loved her family. Linda had a gift for making sure that all who were around her felt comfortable and loved, no matter who you were. She was known for her food and hospitality and would often open her house to friends and family for fellowship and to enjoy time together. She loved and adored her kids, which extended to many more than her own. Her house became an open door for her children's friends at any time. The memories of her love and compassion still resonate with them and have had a lasting impact on their lives to this day.
Most notable was her passion and faith for her Lord and Savior. She read Scripture every day and journaled her thoughts and prayers. It's no surprise that her favorite time of the year was Christmas, as she would gather with friends and family to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ! While her kids were growing up, she established a tradition in her family to decorate and spend quality time together, which has carried on to this day.
Linda is survived by her sister, Kimberly "Kim" Kelley (Mike) of Cobden, Illinois; sister-in-law, Cynthia "Cindy" Balsmann of Cape Girardeau; three sons, Tyson (Genessa) Gieson of Warrenton, Shalin (Brandy) Gieson of North Little Rock, Arkansas, and Jesse (Jessica "Jessie") Gieson of Columbia, Missouri; and grandchildren, Hope, Paige, Nathan, Brooklyn, Shepherd, Caleb and Dallas.
The family would also like to thank Solstice Senior Living of Columbia and Caring Hearts and Hands for taking care of Linda, welcoming her with open arms and making her feel at home.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
