Lilly McClanahan, 91, formerly of Pocahontas, passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at Monticello House in Jackson. She was born Aug. 5, 1918, at Blodgett, Mo., daughter of Samuel and Florence Russell Steakley. She and Victor McClanahan were married Aug. 7, 1936. He passed away Oct. 31, 1978...

Lilly McClanahan, 91, formerly of Pocahontas, passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at Monticello House in Jackson.

She was born Aug. 5, 1918, at Blodgett, Mo., daughter of Samuel and Florence Russell Steakley.

She and Victor McClanahan were married Aug. 7, 1936. He passed away Oct. 31, 1978.

Lilly was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church near Pocahontas.

Loving survivors include six sons, Jerry (Phyllis) McClanahan of Cape Girardeau, Jim (Jan) McClanahan of Cape Girardeau, George (Diane) McClanahan of Calabash, S.C., Roger (Betty) McClanahan of Jackson, Doyle (Judy) McClanahan of Jackson, Pat McClanahan of Pocahontas; two sisters, Ethel Rowell of Chaffee and Anna Mae Smith of Cape Girardeau.

Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donnie Ford and Rev. John Rhodes officiating.

Interment will be in the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Southeast Hospice, the New Bethel Baptist Church or Monticello House.
