BENTON, Mo. -- Lillie M. Welter, 88, of Benton died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
She was born April 4, 1915, at Commerce, Mo., daughter of Nick and Nellie Arnold LeDure. She and Victor Louis Welter were married Jan. 24, 1933, at New Hamburg, Mo. He died Oct. 24, 1975.
Mrs. Welter had worked at Ely Walker Co. in Scott City. She was a lifetime resident of the Benton and New Hamburg communities. She had lived at home until July 1 of this year.
She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Altar Society, Home and School Association, and American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include seven sons, Jerome Welter of Fredericktown, Mo., Gary Welter of Cape Girardeau, Larry Welter of St. Louis, Charles Welter of Sikeston, Mo., Marion Welter, Dudley Welter and Michael Welter, all of Benton; four daughters, Patricia Peters of Marble Hill, Mo., Gerri Lawson of Cape Girardeau, Linda Mungle of Benton, Vicki Wilson of Dexter, Mo.; 34 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, DeWayne Welter in 1987; three brothers, and three grandchildren.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Benton Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Denis Catholic Church, with the Rev. Normand Varone officiating. Burial will be in St. Denis Cemetery.
