FARMINGTON, Mo. -- Lillie Virginia May of Farmington was born Sept. 11, 1953, in St. Louis, to the late James H. And Kathleen (Locke) May and passed away Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at the age of 63.
Lillie grew up in Bonne Terre, Missouri, and graduated from North County High School in 1971. She received an associate's degree from Mineral Area College and went on to Southeast Missouri State University to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977.
She dedicated herself to her career with the Department of Health and Senior Services, where she served as supervisor of investigation of elder abuse.
Lillie retired in 2010 after over 30 years of service to the state of Missouri.
Lillie was an avid NFL fan and enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino. She loved spending time with her family and friends, going on float trips, doing crafts and cooking and feeding many.
Lillie was known for her kind heart and genuine desire to help others. She had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh and have fun and was a joy to know and love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Kathleen May, and her brother, John May.
Lillie is survived by one sister, Susan Mullen (Gary) of Steelville, Missouri; two brothers, James May II (Glendella) of Scott City and Dudley May of Mansfield, Missouri; and two dear friends Joe and Joey (sister by heart) Govreau and Tom (brother by heart) and Jane Bates, both of Farmington. Aunt Lil leaves behind 10 dear nieces and nephews; 17 precious great-nieces and nephews; and a sweet great-great niece and nephew, all of whom she loved with all her heart.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Missouri.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the C.Z. Boyer and Son Chapel, with the Rev. Josh Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens.
