CHARLESTON -- Lillie B. Duffie, 85, of Charleston died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at Christian Hospital Northwest in St. Louis.
She was born July 10, 1914, in Tibbs, Miss., daughter of Richard and Lurah McEluaine Gaines. She married Willie Duffie, who preceded her in death.
Duffie was a member of Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Deventer, its Mother Board, and served as an usher. She was a member of Queen Esther Chapter 17 Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include a son, Roy "R.B." Duffie of Charleston; a daughter, Esther Simpson of St. Louis; two brothers, Eddie Gaines of Chicago, J.C. Gaines of Charleston; a sister, Alberta Burrage of Battle Creek, Mich.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter.
Friends may call at Sparks Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Friday.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church, with the Rev. William Watson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
