Lillian A. Schreiner, 83, of Old Appleton passed away Sunday, May 22, 2022, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. The family extends sincere appreciation to the staff of the Lutheran Home for the attentive care Lillian received during her residency there.
She was born Dec. 18, 1938, in New Wells, Missouri, to Hugo and Marie Boren Scholl. She and Ray Schreiner were married Sept. 1, 1957, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells. Three children were born to their union.
Lillian was baptized Jan. 8, 1939, and confirmed March 29, 1953, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells. She was a graduate of the church's grade school and was a 1957 graduate of Jackson High School.
Lillian was a proud farm wife and mother. She ensured lunch was prepped and ready for Ray and his helpers before she left for work at the bank each morning. Upon retirement, she volunteered at Southeast Hospital and participated in the reading program at Jackson Elementary School.
Lillian was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells until her marriage to Ray, when she became a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Uniontown, Missouri. She and Ray were both very active members of their church, from supporting the school through Parent Teacher League, to making many banners for the church, to being a very active member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and serving on their Altenburg (Missouri) Zone board.
Lillian had a strong faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She shared that faith through her words and actions. She was incredibly proud of her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Lillian enjoyed painting, tending her garden, mowing grass, and watching the bald eagles nest and hatch eggs. Lillian had many friends whom she cherished dearly. Her positive attitude and sense of humor were sure to bring a smile to your face.
