SIKESTON -- Lillian Ruth Nickens, 80, of Bay Minette, Ala., died Wednesday, March 26, 1997, at the University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile.
She was born Oct. 22, 1916, at Bloomfield, daughter of James Benjamin and Beulah Huggins Snider. She and Clarence A. "Jack" Nickens were married Dec. 7, 1935. He died June 16, 1975.
Nickens was a graduate of Bloomfield High School. Formerly of Sikeston, she was a secretary and office clerk at International Shoe Co. here many years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Sikeston Chapter 137 Order of Eastern Star. She moved to Alabama in 1986.
Survivors include a son, Larry Nickens of Marina Del Rey, Calif.; a daughter, Peggy Killian of Mobile; a brother, James Snider of Bloomfield; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Ken Jarvis officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Friends may call at the chapel Saturday from noon to service time.
