CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Lewis Wayne Hamilton, 80, son of the late Herschel and Alfreda Dickerson Hamilton, was born March 23, 1941, in Cape Girardeau and departed his life Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022, surrounded by his family and friends at his home in Chaffee,
After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Turner until his honorable discharge. He had a love for being on the river, fishing, hunting and camping. He loved his dog Missy; she was always by his side. He was loved by his family and many friends, and he will be missed dearly.
Lewis is survived by two daughters, Angela (Shane) O'Connor and Lisa (Dexter) Carr; four sons, Herschel (fiancee Rachel) Hamilton, Lloyd (Bernadette) Cross, Jeff (Carol) Rodgers and Jeff (Candy) Hamilton; and 23 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Linda Lands, and two brothers, Larry and Kenneth Hamilton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Doris Yahn; brother, Carl Hamilton; and daughter, Shari Hamilton.
A private ceremony will be held at a later date.
