MOUND CITY, Ill. -- Lewis "Buck" Buckles, 53, of Mound City died Saturday, Oct. 11, 1997, at his home.
He was born Nov. 17, 1943, in Mound City, son of Charles and Geneva Robinson Buckles. He had worked as a boilermaker and was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Mound City, Boilermakers Union Local 363, Cairo Elks Lodge 651 and Cairo VFW Post 2649.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Purple Heart.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Buckles of Mound City; two daughters, Kathie Dover and Kim Tucker, both of Mound City; his sister, Juanita Edging of Mound City; and a grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Barkett Funeral Home in Mound City. Parish prayers will be recited at 7:30.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Marys Catholic Church in Mound City. Burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery in Mounds.
