Leta Shumaker, 82, of Jackson, formerly of Olive Branch, Ill., died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Oct. 12, 1920, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of John and Myrtle Whitby Stafford. She and Henry A. Shumaker were married Nov. 19, 1939. He died April 11, 1987.
Survivors include three daughters, Dora (Joe) Gardner of Mount Olive, Miss., Donna Hefner of Jackson, Alice (Wayne) Joyce of Murray, Ky.; two sons, Henry Shumaker Jr. and Dale (Linda) Shumaker of Olive Branch; two brothers, Lester Stafford of Sikeston, Mo., Dawsy Stafford of Anderson, Ind.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, parents, and three brothers.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms from 5 to 8 p.m. today, and Friday until time of service.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joe Gardner and the Rev. Curt Gardner officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens.
