THEBES, Ill. -- Lester "Bob" White, 80, of Thebes died Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 13, 1937, in Chicago to Edgar and Susie Light White-Myers. Lester married Brenda Thompson on May 30, 1970.
He retired from Dyno-Nobel in 2003 after 19 years of service. Lester was known to many as a kind, hardworking and humble man. He loved horses, hunting and fishing. If he was not hunting and fishing, he loved camping with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda White; two daughters, Erica (Jarrett Benton) Dillard and Aretta (Mike) Myers; a son, Bobby (Sheri) White; eight grandchildren, Codie Hale, Kyler Hale, Trevor Dillard, Alexis Dillard, AnaLea White, Kimber White, Michael Whalen and Craig Whalen; five great-grandchildren, Cameryn Hale, Clayton Hale, Owen Hale, Kelsey Whalen and Bryar Whalen; two brothers, James (Sharon) White and David Myers; two sisters, Georgette Norris and Loretta (Joe) Wilson; other relatives; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Edgar Allen White.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral services for Lester White will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Brother Bobby White officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes.
Memorial contributions can be made to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
