DEXTER -- Funeral service for Lester W. Stoker of Dexter will be held at 2 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Gerald King will officiate, with burial in Hill Cemetery near Dexter.
Stoker, 84, died Monday, Sept. 1, 1997, at Dexter Nursing Center.
He was born Sept. 24, 1912, near Dexter, son of Franklin A. and Ora Bea Morris Stoker. He and Mildred Ruby Hudgens were married Feb. 28, 1930. She died July 2, 1981.
Stoker lived near Dexter all his life. He had farmed and worked at area grocery stores.
Survivors include four sons, James, Lonnie, Gene and Robert Stoker, all of Dexter; five daughters, Janice McCollom and Rachel Weaver of Bloomfield, Marjorie Rickman and Pat Moore of Dexter, and Kay Mills of Costa Mesa, Calif.
Other survivors include a brother, Franklin Stoker Jr. of Bloomfield; four sisters, Helen Shipman, Norma Gough, Ruby Snider and Clara Bagby, all of Dexter; 24 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
