Lester Lee Myers, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at Missouri Veterans Home. He was born Sept. 23, 1920, at Old Appleton, Mo., son of Ray John and Josie Esther Schreiner Myers. He and Roberta Elnora Kinder were married Dec. 20, 1947, in Cape Girardeau. She died Aug. 31, 1992...

Lester Lee Myers, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at Missouri Veterans Home.

He was born Sept. 23, 1920, at Old Appleton, Mo., son of Ray John and Josie Esther Schreiner Myers. He and Roberta Elnora Kinder were married Dec. 20, 1947, in Cape Girardeau. She died Aug. 31, 1992.

Myers worked 27 years at Inman Freight Lines, retiring in 1980. He was a member of VFW Post 3838, American Legion Post 63, and Marine Corps League.

He was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War, serving in Guadalcanal and the South Pacific.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Gill of Jackson, Mo.; a brother, Dean Myers of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; two grandsons, Doug and his wife, Linda, LaFentres of Scott City, Mo., Mark LaFentres of Cape Girardeau; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today. American Legion Post 63 will have a service at 7.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Janet Hopkins and John Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park, with graveside rites by VFW Post 3838.
