Lester Jannin

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Lester T. Jannin, 87, of Perryville died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville.

He was born June 4, 1921, in Perry County, son of Marcellus and Mary Louise Seifert Jannin. He married Mary Etheline Gibbar on Oct. 18, 1944, at Silver Lake, Mo. She died Dec. 15, 2000.

Lester was a farmer. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church at Silver Lake.

Surviving are two sons, Harold and Roger Jannin of Perryville; a sister, Gladys Gibbar of Perryville; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five sisters and five brothers.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. today. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Friday.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Rose of Lima Church, with the Rev. Alphonse Hoernig officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
