SIKESTON, Mo. -- Lester W. Holt, 74, of Sikeston died Monday, Aug. 20, 2001, at Sikeston Convalescent Center.
He was born Jan. 10, 1927, at Himmell, Mo., son of Chester and Ada Lingle Holt. He and Hattie Louise Holt were married June 5, 1949. She died April 29, 1994. He and Virgie Yancy were married June 10, 1995.
Holt was a retired carpenter, and member of Blodgett Baptist Church. He was formerly of Bloomfield, Mo.
Survivors include his wife; six sons, James Holt of Holiday, Fla., Gary Holt of Bell City, Mo., Donald Holt of Sikeston, Mo., Glen and Robert Holt of Bloomfield, Perry Holt of Anaheim, Calif.; a daughter, Pam Haws of Dexter, Mo.; three stepsons, James and Keith Yancy of Sikeston, John Yancy of Fort Pierce, Fla.; and a stepdaughter, Jennifer Cunningham of Chaffee, Mo.
Also surviving are three brothers, Richard Holt of Port Hueneme, Calif., J.C. Holt of Wauconda, Ill., Dale Holt of Blodgett; five sisters, Barbara Driskell and Iva Yon of Panama City, Fla., Dorothy Atlas of Arnold, Mo., Ann Gibbs of Hemet, Calif., Linda Murone of Winter Haven, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.
Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery near Bloomfield.
