BENTON, Mo. -- Leslie Plain, 89, of Brimfield, Ill., died Sunday, March 4, 2007, at his home.
He was born Jan. 23, 1918, in Cameron, Mo., to William and Nettie Woods Plain. He married Nina Tippen July 10, 1954, in Alton, Ill.
Surviving is his wife; a daughter, Sandra (Butch) Coulter of Ipava, Ill.; five sons, Harvey Mims of Atlanta, , Leslie Jr. (Becky) of Benton, Delbert (Crystal) and William of Edwards, Ill., Robert of Brimfield; two sisters, Juanita (Leroy) Grigery of Sikeston, Mo., Jean (Gale) Hastings of Glenallen, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, five brothers, a daughter, a grandson and a great-grandson.
Leslie retired from Caterpillar in 1979.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood, Ill.
The funeral will be at noon Wednesday at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded. Burial of cremains will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Brimfield at a later date.
