SIKESTON, Mo. -- Leroy Luster, 85, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Sikeston, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at Parkway Health and Rehabilitation Center in Memphis.
He was born Aug. 12, 1919, in Clarkedale, Ark., son of Joseph and Louise Banks Luster.
Luster was a member and served as a deacon at New Holmes Missionary Baptist Church near Oran, Mo.
He served in the U.S. Army during world War II.
Survivors include five daughters, Betty Buckley of Memphis, Sheryl Luster of Blytheville, Ark., Linda Williams of St. Louis, Tammy Peet of Chicago, Yolanda Dixon of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Eliza Lane of Oran, Zora Smith of St. Louis, Carlee Washington of Toledo, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother and a sister.
Friends may call at Christ Sanctuary Church of God in Christ at Bell City, Mo., from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the church, with Elisha Pullen officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full military honors.
