LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Leroy Joseph Jansen, 58, of Leopold passed away Aug. 31, 2019, at his home.
He was born Feb. 12, 1961, in Cape Girardeau, the son of the late Simon and Theodora Hinkebein Jansen. Leroy and Gina Patrice Cook were united in marriage April 23, 1994, at St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold.
He was employed by Dutch Enterprises for 31 years and most recently employed by Nip Kelley Construction.
Leroy was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus No. 5898.
He was known for his charitable works, giving spirit and a passion for his friends at VIP Industries. Leroy was devoted to his bride, family and all his "people," which included anyone he ever met.
Leroy lived on Memory Lane. If he wasn't sharing a memory with you, he was making a new one. His love of music and dance brought joy and laughter to everyone he knew.
Survivors include his wife, Gina Jansen; sisters, Diane (Paul) Keller, Dolores (Darell) Bohnsack, Yvonne (Jamie) Crawford and Jerene (John) Lovell; nephews and nieces, including Jennifer Garland, Joe Keller, John Keller, Chris and Craig Bohnsack; and several great-nieces and -nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold. Parish rosary and prayers will begin at 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. The Rev. David Coon will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to VIP Industries or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
