Leota Ethridge, 78, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Cairo, Illinois, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born July 2, 1938, in Alexander County, Illinois, to Harry and Ella Mae (Jackson) Holmes.
Leota was a homemaker. She was a member of Cairo Baptist Church, now known as Mighty Rivers Worship Center.
She is survived by her husband, Ron Ethridge of Cape Girardeau; four sons, Charles Vaughn of Cairo, Martin Ethridge of Cape Girardeau, Loren Ethridge of St. Louis and Ronnie Ethridge of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Renny and Norman Holmes; two sisters, Sharon Cooley and Gloria Martinez; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert Vaughn; a daughter, Carol Grace; two brothers, Billy and Lloyd Holmes; and a sister, Jackie Beggs.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service for Leota Ethridge will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Dr. Larry L. Potts officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes, Illinois.
