Leonard Joseph Cook, 78, who resided at Amen Center in Cape Girardeau County, died Thursday, May 28, 2020, at Saint Francis Medical Center. He was born March 21, 1942, in St. Louis to Joseph Francis and Elda Mae Dengler Cook. He loved his faith, Southeast Missouri and Boy Scouts, including his Alabama Scouting family. Leonard Joseph Cook, 78, who resided at Amen Center in Cape Girardeau County, died Thursday, May 28, 2020, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born March 21, 1942, in St. Louis to Joseph Francis and Elda Mae Dengler Cook.

He loved his faith, Southeast Missouri and Boy Scouts, including his Alabama Scouting family. He was a Boy Scout for more than 50 years, was unit commissioner for Troop 5 and was a Vigil Honors Member of the Order of the Arrow.

He was a founding (charter) member of St. John the Theologian Orthodox Church in Jackson.

Leonard affected many people, was loved by many and will be missed. Rest in peace.

Survivors include his siblings, Annetta (Ray) Long of Missouri, George (Carrie) Cook of Washington, Marilyn Bull of Illinois, Henry (Vickie) Cook of Alabama and Grace Cook of Arizona, with whom he was especially close. He is also survived by many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life is tentatively planned for July 12 in the Cape Girardeau area.

Burial was held at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
